Depending on its scope and length, your work can end up in one of three places:

  • Online Article Repository—A/R/T is our repository of online articles, free to everyone and updated regularly
  • php|architect Magazine—our flagship publication
  • NanoBooks—a series of focused, in depth books for PHP developers

Writing for A/R/T

A/R/T is our online article repository. It is available freely over the Web and its goal is to provide excellent content for PHP developers.

Articles that are published in A/R/T should be focused around a very specific topic, and cover that topic well in between 1,500 and 2,000 words. Additionally, A/R/T publishes product and book reviews.

Please note that we are not interested in publishing “advertorials.” All our reviews must be written by an unbiased and fair point of view.
If you have specific questions about A/R/T, ir would like to submit an article idea, contact Marcus Whitney.

Writing for php|architect

Articles that are longer than 2,500 words may be good candidates for php|architect, our flagship magazine published monthly both in PDF and print format.

The articles that we like to publish on php|architect are very exhaustive and should cover a specific topic in great detail. Many of the core PHP developers have written articles for us, and we're always looking for new contributors to help us create the best resource for PHP developers everywhere!

If you want to write an article for php|a or have questions about our magazine, you can write to Sean Coates, our Editor-in-Chief.

Writing a NanoBook

NanoBooks are our line of technical books for PHP developers. Much like everything else we do, the typical NB is focused on a specific topic and covers it exhaustively. We are not interested in publishing 500-page “monsters” (unless, of course, the specific topic they cover warrants it), but prefer to publish smaller books that do away with the fluff and give the reader exactly what he or she wants: useful knowledge.

Compared to writing an article, the process required to create a book is significantly more complex. However, we have endeavored to automate most of it—particularly in the areas where human intervention is bound to introduce mistakes—so that authors and editors can focus on their actual jobs: writing... and editing!

If you would like to submit an idea for a NanoBook, you can write to Marco Tabini, our publisher.
